“After hearing about this project, I definitely thought this photo may be one of Mr. Fields’. This is a photo of my mother, Winifred Teresa Carney, in Dublin approx. 1944. She would have been about 18 years old and was a very sharp dresser. My mother seems to be unaware this photo was taken and, therefore, I felt it may have been taken on the Bridge. She passed away three years ago.

My mother was named after her famous paternal aunt, (Maria) Winifred Carney, James Connolly’s assistant during the Easter Uprising of 1916. Great Aunt Winnie was known as the Typist with the Webley. ”
