“On the left in the white coat and beret is my mother, Violet Pollock, and on the right is her first cousin, Lucy Canning, who was visiting from Glasgow, Scotland. This photo was taken in 1935. P.S. – In case you want additional information, Violet Pollock is the daughter of George Pollock, who in 1921 along with Roddy Connolly founded the short-lived Communist Party of Ireland, and later in life went on to found the Rural Workers’ Federation, which he ran for many years, at least into the 1950s. Lucy Canning is the sister of Vera Canning, a renowned cellist.”
