“My granny Mary Thorpe on her wedding day, with her friend and bridesmaid, Dympha Phelan. Mary’s husband, Harry, can be seen in the background. They were married in St Conleth’s Church in Newbridge, County Kildare, and had their wedding breakfast in the Grand Hotel. They travelled to Dublin by car. Mary’s outfit was light blue with a navy blue hat and Dymphna’s outfit was pink. They spent the day in Dublin and returned to Newbridge later that evening.”
