“Rita O’Reilly and me in O’Connell Street in late 1962 (Clerys is in the background). The woman on the right is a complete stranger! Wearing your collar turned up was a fashion statement at the time (probably influenced by Elvis). Rita is carrying a bag of sweets and a cake bought in the Kylemore Bakery in O’Connell Street. We were on our way to visit a friend, Noel Heary, in Blanchardstown Hospital, which was then a TB hospital.”
