“My dad, Tommy Nee from Cavan, aged 20. The photo was taken in 1963. That day, he thumbed a lift to Dublin and he dressed well to make sure he’d get a lift quickly. I love how dapper he looks and I love that type of photography – photographs were more casual and unguarded in those days. He was dressed so well; I think people looked after their clothes more back then. He still has those gloves; they were his driving gloves and were probably the first pair of gloves he got when he got his first car, a Mini. He still looks dapper to this day.”
