“July 23rd 1968. We had only met two months before, at the time I was about to take up a contract in Kenya the following day, huge money by standards of the day. After writing and phoning at least three times a week, she was nervous about coming out to me, so I came back in December.
Still together, we wed in 1970, we’ve travelled a bit together ever since then.”
