“Photo of two school pals, John Colgan (taller) and Pat McDowell, both then of Phibsborough and aged about 19, who probably walked there are were most likely ‘cruising’ and likely to stop of at one of the in-places – O’Connell St cafes – where late-teenagers met to make friends. It was taken outside Clerys’ shop. Both are now retired: John was chairman of everything he turned his hand too and was by profession, an engineer. Pat made money and retired, a banker.”
