“My parents, Joseph Keena and Catherine Hegarty from Westmeath, on their wedding day, 11 June 1941. They had their wedding breakfast in the Newbury Hotel just beside Mullingar railway station, then they went on the train to Dublin for their honeymoon. They were going across the bridge heading for Bray when they were photographed. My mother had been a nurse in London, but she returned to Ireland because of the bombings over there during the war.”
