“The day I bought my first guitar – This is myself and my good friend Michael Thomas walking across O’Connell Bridge in 1975. We were snapped by Arthur who handed Michael the ticket – I wasn’t aware that we’d been photographed at the time. I’d never seen the photo and wasn’t even aware of its existence until Michael emailed me a copy of what remained of the very ragged photo a couple of weeks ago (40 or so years after it was taken). We’d spent the day scouring the music shops in Dublin looking for a reasonably decent guitar. We settled on a Yamaha from McCullough Piggott in Suffolk Street. I still have the guitar. I moved to England in 1978 and lost touch with Michael but after four decades managed to reconnect with him last year. Thank you, Arthur, for being there on the bridge with your camera and providing me with this very special record of a moment in time.”
