“The girl second from right is my mother, Mary Burns, aged 20 (in 1975). The girl on the left is her friend Patricia, originally from Cork, and the other two girls are friends of Patricia’s who were up from Cork for a few days. My mother comes from Magheracloone, Co. Monaghan, and moved to Dublin in 1972 after she finished school. She met Patricia in the hostel she stayed in when she first came to Dublin, and they’ve been friends ever since. -Liz O’Brien”
