“This is a photo of my father Nicholas O’Connor ( Nicko as he was known locally) from a small village in South Connemara called Leitir Móir and my mother Lily (Lillian) Murphy from Hilltown, Newry ,Co Down. I think they may have been on their honeymoon when this photo was taken. My mother came to Béal an Daingean a few miles from Leitir Móir as a Lady Dudley Nurse 1939 and this is where they met. They lived happily in Leitir Móir until my mother passed away in 1986 and my father passed away 1998 at the great age of 95. My dad told us very interesting stories. I wish I had written them down. They had six children, two sons and four daughters. All their family live in Ireland and their two sons live in Leitir Móir. (Geartrúd (O’Connor) Mhic Con Iomaire, daughter)
