“My grandfather John Doyle and his colleague Jack Mates, who worked for Fanagan undertakers on Aungier Street, on their way back to the stables after a funeral. Mr Mates lived beside the stables with his wife and family, which was across the road from the main offices. He looked after the horses primarily so it must have been a busy day if Mr Mates was on the road.”
