“(L–r): Angela Curtis, Maureen Maguire and me, Maura Voyles. I worked in Browne & Nolans on 42–44 Nassau Street. I was secretary to the General Manager, a Londoner called Price. Angela was a typist in the general office. We became great friends and still send Christmas cards to one another and try to meet in Dublin once a year. Maureen Maguire was in secondary school with me, St Agnes in Crumlin. We remained friends for quite a time but eventually lost touch. This photograph was taken on a Saturday afternoon as we all worked five days plus until one o’clock on Saturdays. We were probably going shopping and then to the pictures. Life was very simple then. The last bus left town at 11.30 p.m. We never stayed out too late.”
