“On the right is my mother, Margaret Burns (née Clifford) of Boolananave, Sneem, County Kerry, with her friend Bridie Murphy (née Devane), from Baile an Éanaigh, Ballyferriter, County Kerry. They were fast friends from the time they met in Coláiste Íde and both qualified as teachers. They made a trip to the World’s Fair in New York in 1939 and arrived back in Ireland on the day the Second World War was declared.'”
