“My Mum emailed me so excited when she heard about this website. She asked me to upload this photo which was taken by Arthur in 1975 on O’Connell Street, close to the bridge my Mum thinks. This photo is iconic in our household, least because there are very few photos of me as a child. I love this picture so much that about 13 years ago I had it blown up to half the size of one of the walls in my living room. I got guys who do commercial billboards in London to do it like that for me!
The photo is my most treasured possession for as long as I can remember. It is the only photo in fact I have with my parents as a young child. Even 10 years ago I got in put it on a handbag for my Mum as a birthday present!
The photo is of my parents: James and Goretti Donnelly, and me (about 18 months- 2 years of age). My parent were, and still are, two very beautiful and stylish individuals. Mum and Dad were living in Cavan at the time and on a rare trip to Dublin when Arthur stopped them and asked for the picture to be taken. I can’t remember the day but Mum said I had never seen a camera like this and was a little wary and scared- you can see it in my face! The little checked suit I was wearing was red and white and had been sent over to me from relatives in America! I remember the outfit!
I would like to thank Arthur from the bottom of my heart as words cannot describe how much this picture means to me, it is beyond words. As its in my blown up and in my living room I look at it every day and still admire in and my two very beautiful and young parents, and their stylish 70’s attire. It has even been brought into modern age by being my Mums profile picture on facebook since she joined- that is how much we love it!!
Thank you very much to this fantastic iconic man Arthur- an incredible man to have savoured and captured memories for millions of people and turned ordinary days into treasured memories.
