“My granddad Jack(left) with his brother Tommy. It’s an important picture to me because I didn’t know him at all really. He was a master violinist and fiddle player and thought the Dubliners(the family were originally from Darndale via Arklow but settled in Marino) My dad passed away recently and while he wasn’t close to his old man, he used to talk about his longing for his dads affection. In a way it kept my dad vulnerable despite being on the outside a very open charismatic guy. My dad eventually settled on the southside and all my family were northsiders. I like his picture because it connects me with my past and adds to my identity. I see my dad and myself in my grandad. Thank you.”
