“This photo is of my father and mother, Dan Shanaghy and Kathleen Shanaghy, walking along O’Connell Street, with the Daniel O’Connell Monument in the background. They had just recently been married and had traveled from Carlow. My father was born in Lacken Lower, near Ballinagh, Co. Cavan and moved to Carlow in the 1930’s,where he met my mother, and they married in 1944. They honeymooned in Dublin and this may have been that occasion.”
