“This shows my Dad, James McLoughlin, myself, Maureen Terhune (nee McLoughlin) and Olive Mary Raymont who was to become my step-mother. I was there in Dublin (we lived in Bideford, England) to visit my grandparents, who lived in Townsend St. My birth mother died from TB, but I was so lucky that I had Mum (Olive) to care for me and eventually I had a sister and brother. It’s an important photo because it was a pivotal time of my life when it was being decided where and by whom I would be brought up. I might have been brought up in Dublin, but returned to North Devon where my mother had many siblings.”
