“Barbara Grogan, my girlfriend at the time, and me, coming from the cinema. It was the 70s and we were hippies. I was a musician and was inspired by the likes of Marc Bolan, T-Rex, The Incredible String Band. Punk hadn’t yet hit Ireland so 1977 Dublin was more like 1967 London. Not many people dressed like this all the time, maybe for the weekend, but we were the real thing and felt very much part of a counter-culture.”
