“Two smiling girls: my second cousin Kathleen Cosgrove (left) who served her time in Leon’s, the couturier of Grafton St. She lived on Nash St, Inchicore and latterly in Stannaway Road in Kimmage. Kathleen and her youngest sister, Rose, were set up in a tailoring business by their father, Jimmy, at 29 Mary St (now Marks & Spencer). Kathleen was forever young at heart, always saw the funny side of things and she lived by the motto “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile (and a hat)”
