“William Hecker and Dorothy Wellspring on O’Connell Bridge again. Future parents of Doreen (nee Hecker) Smyth. A well dressed and very stylish couple don’t you think? The day appears to be windy. This time William has a wrapped (in brown paper and tied with string) package in hand that Doreen says may be fresh meat from the butcher. Vegetables, meat and bread (perishables) were all bought fresh and, as refrigeration was not so common then, it was necessary to go out to get ‘your messages` often – two or three times a week. My hope is that Bill and Dorothy’s grandchildren and great grandchildren may be more inclined to view this (and other photos I have uploaded to your site) on line than in an album.”
