“This is a photo of my mother (then Mary Joyce) and father (Jeremiah Dunlea) on the corner of O’Connell Bridge.

They were at the All Ireland that day and wore the Cork colours on their coats. The match was held at Croke Park, Dublin, on 5 September 1954, between Cork and Wexford.

My Dublin born mother is only seventeen in this photo and would marry my Cork born father nearly eight years later. They would have five children in total, fours sons and one daughter.

The photo is really special to us because it is the earliest photo we have of my parents together before they married. They look so innocent and happy in this photo.”
