“Kathleen and Michael Moriarty on their honeymoon in Dublin. Kathleen (née Flynn) was from Railway View, Athlone and worked in Gentex. Michael was from Gurranabraher in Cork City. Michael moved to Athlone with the army during the Emergency, where he met Kathleen and fell in love. They were great dancers and regularly went to the Crescent Ballroom in Athlone. Married on 16 December 1944 in St Mary’s Church in Athlone, they went on to live a long and happy life together. Michael never lost his contact with Cork and was a regular visitor to the “real capital”.'”
