“Myself, Paul Mullally, then of Comeragh Road, Drimnagh, Dublin. I was seventeen at the time and had just started a course in architectural technology in Bolton Street, sponsored by the Office of Public Works. I was paid four pounds, three shillings and tenpence per week in my first year, with all fees, books and equipment paid for by the OPW. My hairstyle at that time was in transition, growing out from a tight crew cut, common at that time, to a normal short, back and sides with a side parting. My hair needed to grow long enough before it would lie down.”
