“me at the age of 18yrs, going out with the chap called Jim Brady from RAahmines, I met him at my brothers wedding as they were both in the FCA 11th Field Medial Corps, I lived in Ranelagh, so boy next door kind of thing, he worked as a bus conductor, then moved onto CIE North Wall then Dublin Fire brigade Tara St, Rathmines, Dolphens Barn, and Donnybrook where he attained officer, we got married in 1980, had two lovely boys, yes one of them is a Firefighter in Tallaght Stn, lol, anyway, Jim became an alcoholic, we split up, he met someone else and was with her for 20yrs sober, unfortunately he fell off the wagon and he could not handle it. He had the biggest Firebrigade Funeral I have ever seen in Maynooth. The child in the photo is my nephew Raymond Murphy who is about 6ft 4, Raymond was born on the same date one year after my dad died 26th Nov 1974, he became an electrician, worked in New York, married now and settled in Portumna. He would love to be a Firefighter and would make a great one.”
